We currently have a single Active Directory 2003 domain (whose Domain & Forest functional levels are 2003) and a single Exchange 2003 server (which is in Exchange 2003 native mode).

I realize we cannot upgrade our Exchange 2003 in place to Exchange 2007 because we want the a 64bit OS so Ex2007 runs in 64bit. Exchange 2007 doesn't need Active Directory upgraded to AD 2008, but will we need to upgrade our AD in order to allow the Exchange server to run on a Windows 2008 server instead of, say, a Windows 2003 R2 server? I'm thinking the answer is: don't worry, it'll be just fine. But not sure what search terms to put into Google or here to find discussions about that.

Anyone have any experience with a Win2008 server in a AD 2003 forest/domain?

To Exchange 2007 the "AD version" is irrelevant. Up it to 2008, leave it as 2007. No matter. Whatever.

HTH.

I realize Exchange won't care if AD is 2003 or 2008, but my real question was: will AD care that there's a 2008 member server out there? The domain didn't give whooptee-spit when we were an Active Directory 2000 domain with 2003 member servers. So I expect it probably won't care if it's AD2003 domain with 2008 member servers.

But.. I'm paranoid and wanted to double check.
