joho -> Dynamic Distribution Group problem (22.May2008 3:53:22 AM)

Hi all,

I have used Exchange Management Console to create a Dynamic Distribution Group by following this article;
http://searchexchange.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid43_gci1255803,00.html

So far – so good (I guess).

At my windows 2003 R2 Server, in Active Directory Users and Computers – I can see my Dynamic group (msexchDynamicDistributionList), but not with the ordinary group icon (two heads) but with a standard, not associated, windows icon (something’s wrong here?).

When right clicking - Properties - I only see the General tab with a Description – nothing else.

In Outlook 2007 (or any other Outlook version as well) I can’t see the Dynamic group at all?

Does anyone have experience of this? Or a solution?

Best regards,
joho

Please, anyone?

When looking in AD users and computers, the icon you are seeing for the dynamic group is correct! This is because you cannot manage the membership or properties of this group (all managed automatically by AD using the filter specified for group membership).

Is your Outlook 2007 in cached mode? try it with cached mode disabled. Are you able to see the group from OWA?

Hi,
thanks for replying - and sorry for my late reply.

I can't see the group in OWA, nor in either cached or non-cached mode in Outlook 2007.
I have also tried to delete the dynamic group and recreated with the same settings and I have even tried different selections when creating a group.
The group is created successfully, but can't be used because it's not visible anywhere.

I can't see the dynamic group with any previous Outlook client either (I have tried Outlook 2000 and 2003).

I don't even know where to start looking for the problem...

Regards,
joho

Has anyone good experience of Dynamic Groups?

How did you configured it?
What did you do to make it work?

I'm still lost!

joho
