Hello All - I am in the process of a 2003 to 2007 transition, since there isn't a migration path according to microsoft. I have reviewed and read the 3 part article on the Transitioning from exchange 200\2003 to 2007, which I have found to be very helpful. I am having some problems with OWA. I am not very knowledgable with IIS and thats part of the problem. Is there any articles on OWA? I look at both my 2003 and 2007 administrative groups and have noticed that my 2003 server has a HTTP protocol folder in the 2003 system manager, but my 2007 server only has SMTP protocol. Is there a reason for this? I am almost afraid of removing my 2003 server cause I don't know if everything will work correctly. Also I run ISA server 2004....what do i need to do with ISA to get everything pointing to the new OWA running out of 2007? I also have a SSL cert setup for my 2003 OWA....will this transfer also or do I have to do this manually? Any help, thoughts, questions, or articles would be great. Thanks in advance!

IIS with Exchange 2003 is totally different to Exchange 2007. The protocols are handled differently - particularly around SMTP. If you are trying to look at Exchange 2007 through 2003 ESM - then don't. That doesn't show you everything because it is different. By now you should have tested OWA using http://server/owa on the new server. Then logging in to a mailbox on the new server. For the SSL certificate - your current certificate is not suitable - you need a new one. The type of certificate is explained on Technet - you need an SAN/UC certificate. However there are issues with ISA coping with SAN/UC certificates. I am unsure of the current resolution to that problem (I don't use ISA with my deployments so it isn't something I have had to work with). Simon.

When I attempt to check the OWA using the link /owa">http://<ServerName>/owa I get the "Page must be viewed over secure Channel" So then I type the same address with https:// and I get the do you want to continue to the page message and nothing happens, I dont a logon screen or anything.....it says certificate error but it always says that, even on my 2003 OWA which works fine. Any ideas?

If you were getting the error on Exchange 2003 and you had purchased a commercial SSL certificate then I would doubt whether you had purchased it for the correct name. Is ISA handling the certificate or is it handled by the server itself? have all the services started correctly without any errors? Have you enabled forms based authentication in EMC ? Simon.

What is a SAN/UC certificate exactly? I am not all down with the SSL stuff.

It is all explained in the relevant Technet articles. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310791(EXCHG.80).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995942(EXCHG.80).aspx Basically a SAN (Subject Alternative Name) or UC (Unified Communications) certificate is a certificate that supports more than one name. As Exchange 2007 required multiple names to operate correctly. There are issues with getting it to work on ISA 2004 - unfortunately I cannot help with that as I don't use ISA in the vast majority of my installations. Simon.
