After rather a lot of trouble I seem to havee finally got the auto discovery service working externally as well as internally. However I did notice something which I found rather strange when testing autodiscover internally it only works when I use my email address in the format of David.Scotland@mydomain.com but when using it externally it only works if I use dscotland@mydomain.com .

Have I misconfigured something? It just seems a bit strange to me.

Any comments would be appreciated. PS The reason I have two mail addresses is that the second one is my legacy one from the lotus domino environment from which I am  migrating which I still want to accept mail for.

Shouldn't really make any difference. The bulk of the autodiscover process is to find the mail server. Once it has that it is then looking for your account. If the account connection part isn't working then that would tend to point to a problem outside of Autodiscover.
