belinda -> 50+ Undeliverable Spam Emails (15.Jun.2008 8:27:26 PM)

Over the last few months I've noticed multiple times that when I login to my Inbox I have 50+, if not more, undeliverable messages which are just spam. We are running Exchange 2007 but I've also noticed a customer has the same problem, probably to a higher degree as multiple users are experiencing this and they are running Exchange 2003.

Neither server is open for relay and both run antivirus (Symantec) and spam programs (GFI ME) so I'm lost as to how I can stop or block this action so that users are no longer concerned by it.

Any tips or suggestions?

Sounds like spoofing. If that is the case you will have to live with it. Your server has to accept the NDRs that are destined for it - blocking those will get you blacklisted.

There are some antispam solutions that claim to deal with the backscatter NDRs, but I haven't tried those so cannot comment on their functionality.

Simon.
