WalleyeGuy -> Please Help - 0X8004010F Errors (18.Jun.2008 3:54:41 PM)

I've searched everywhere and have tried multiple fixes.

First here's the issue going on:
Most Outlook 2003 Clients receive  0X8004010F errors when doing a send receive.  All Clients are in Cached Mode

Now some background info:
I have just taken over this server after the person that came in a did an Exchange Migration left.  I am NOT an Exchange Administrator (can you say "baptism by fire")

We were an NT4 Only Domain and utilized a single Exchange 5.5 Server (yes, out of date...).  Now, the gent created the Active Directory (Win2003) and all seems good with that.  User Names, SIDs, & Passwords were all migrated to the AD.  Most computers are still in the NT Domain and most users actually log in via the NT Domain.

Now the new Exchange Server is Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003.  As far as I know all migration was completed - that's what was told to me.  For the last couple of months all worked fine and now we get those errors.

What I've Done:
Gone to this site http://www.amset.info/exchange/oab-error.asp
I've checked everything and have tried everything.
Now, one site I went to, said to try creating a new OAB
ESM>Recipients>Offline Address List
I created a new list (different name) and pointed it to the Default Global Address List.

I've rebuilt the thing (right click>rebuild) and still no go.

Now this is only affecting Outlook Clients that were setup before the migration.  If I create a totally new profile then all is good (I cannot do that for all of our users though)

If I go to an Outlook Client and do a Send/Receive then choose to download the full address book, it comes up with an Address Book that no longer exists on the server (it was a choice to go with the default naming..the old thing was badly named so they let Exch2K3 do the default).

Can anyone PLEASE Help Me Out Here??

Thanks

Hi,

Try the below two options and let me know if it works...

1) KB 939996 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939996/en-us)

2) Go to the Exchange Advanced tab of the properties of the affected user, check the "Hide from Exchange Address Lists" checkbox, click apply, then uncheck that
box and click on apply again. The user should show up in the GAL on Outlook clients, then create an Outlook profile for that Exchange user, and the 0x8004010F errors should go away.

Thanks Raghu,

I haven't tried either fix really...I need the Outlook clients to download the OAB.  This isn't affecting any of the users that are not in Cached Mode.

There are too many users to really go through each desktop/laptop and recreate new profiles.  However, I did go through the second fix you listed and it still did not work.

Are the users able to see free/busy information for each other when setting up a meeting request?

Check this article to determine if the SiteFolderServer attribute is correct for the organization.

Schedule+ Free/Busy system folder is missing

Here's where I think the main problem is coming from... I just don't know how to correct it.

In Outlook, if you click on Send/Receive and choose to Download the Address Book, there is a drop-down to choose the Address Book you wish to download.

There is only one option that shows in the drop-down, and it is not the correct one.

Thanks de.blackman

I had already gone through that article.  It was set up incorrectly before.
I did the procedures and they have set correctly for a couple of days; however, the issue still remained after as well.

Have you regenerated the address book? Turn up diagnostic logging on MSexchangeSA/OAB to maximum before regenerating the address book so that we can see if any errors are being generated.

Take Outlook out of cached mode and see if all is working properly. Does this issue happen on all client computers?

WalleyeGuy -> RE: Please Help - 0X8004010F Errors (19.Jun.2008 2:53:44 PM)

I have regenerated the Address Book, turned up diags and I see absolutely no errors (after diags turned up).

Also, yes this does still happen when I take the user out of Cached Mode.

This does happen on all client computers, for people that were set up prior to the Exchange Migration

What happens when you create a new outlook profile for the users?

WalleyeGuy -> RE: Please Help - 0X8004010F Errors (19.Jun.2008 5:09:58 PM)

It doesn't seem to affect anything, they still receive the sync issues.
If I create a new profile on a machine that has never had Outlook configured on it, then all works perfectly.

exchange2008 -> RE: Please Help - 0X8004010F Errors (23.Jul.2008 12:45:23 AM)

When your Exchange 2003 crash or reinstall, you may happen those problem 0x80040 .... 0x8004010F in Outlook.

Welcome, you drop into hopeless abyss.
There is no one article to help you because they mslead your to mistake directions. I already fix 4 times successfully.The 5th belong to you.

Solution
1. Log issues

Exchange System Manager->Servers->Right Click your Server->Properties->Diagnoistics Logging->MSExchangeSA->OAL Generator
Set to Medium

2. Recreate(Delete & Create) Global Address List
3. Recreate Offline Addess Book

Notes: public folder that will contain this Offline Address List will be created during store maintenance period on (your server). Therefore this offline Address List will no be available to client until that time.

So you must set Maintenance interval( of Maibox Store& Public Folder Store) to Always run or full time.
Try set Replication the same.
It may wait a few minutes.

4. Rebuild Offline Address Book
It may wait a few minutes again.

5. Check Log

If there is any warning(CA not valid ...), check it & locate users. recreate Exchange Attribute.
Rebuild until no warnings & errors(You must solve yourself).

6. Set Offline Address Book to Mailbox Store

Mailbox Store->General

7. Reboot Exchange Server

8. Close & Run Outlook again.

MS KB  ignore many steps.
Even Someone suggest verify OAB 3a or 4 version. etc.
All is stupid.They always suggest something another said.
Actually, they don't know clearly.
Key is [7.Reboot] after [6. Set Offline Address Book to Mailbox Store].
You could delete Global Address List &Reboot to make 0x8004010F error again.

If you miss any step, you will entry infinite errors cycle.

At last, this Create in China.
