Redbyte -> Mail queue- very new to all this is (23.Jun.2008 6:58:11 AM)

Hi everyone,

Hoping you can help me with this. I am using javamail to generate and send an email through an exchange 5.5 server. The code completes etc and returns without errors but im not seeing any mails in the recipients inbox.

What does exchange do with emails when they arrive? are they stored in a queue somewhere ? Initially i need to determine if the code is actually creating an email, and I was assuming that there would be a quarantine area or similar for email that was generated but couldnt be sent?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers
RB

With no Exchange 5.5 experience, you're possibly going to struggle to diagnose this.

Is it a standalone single server?  Is the recipient mailbox also on the same server?  Is message tracking enabled?

hiya zbnet
greetings from Didsbury.
Its a standalone server, Ive tweaked my code slightly and the mails are coming through now. Im accessing the recipients mail box via Outlook express on the box, and Im assuming that the mail box is there as its named in the properties. Although Ive overcome my initial issue, Id still be interested to know how exchange processes, stores, the message or more importantly why?

I appreciate I should read up on it, but if you can point me in the right direction that would be great.
Many thanks
RB
