cobritek -> How to change mydomain/exchange for OWA (24.Jun.2008 8:19:26 AM)

I registered mail.mydomain.com for my Exchange server.

How do I change the default OWA site from myserver/exchange internally and mydomain.com/exchange externally to mail.mydomain.com?

I tried to add a host header to the default website and also tried it on the Exchange virtual directory. Should I use a redirect instead?

hi mate,

For internal

create a host entry in dns called as mail and ip address should be of the exchange server.

Then open the IIS => Default Web Site => Properties => Home Directory tab :
Select "A redirection to a URL"
Redirect to : http://mail.yourdomain.com/exchange
And also selct "A directory below URL entered and "A permanent redirection for this resource"
Apply and ok

Restart the service

Make sure you are able to ping the host entry

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a try this evening. Could I do a redirect from mail.mydomain.com to \Exchange?

hi mate,

it should work

because your host name will help it to resolve.

I did what you suggested and it didn't work as I expected. I also tried /Exchange as a redirect and the external site just appended the URL with /Exchange/Exchange/Exchange/Exchange.

I just wanted to leave a comment about what you suggested. Turns out something is up with IIS on that box so I followed the instructions in this article.

http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Resetting-OWA-Folder-IIS-security-permissions-Exchange-2003.html

Once that was finished I went through and set the permissions for the WebSite. Then I did what you suggested and it worked like a charm! The domain name redirects to the OWA folder.

So thanks!

Why do we get a popup for login instead of the OWA page? Did I redirect improperly?

Is it your form based authentication is enabled in the ESM?
