Steveh24 -> owa not working from home (26.Jun.2008 2:26:08 PM)

I have taken over the support of an Exchange 2007 Server having only ever worked on Exchange 2003 and have come up against numerous problems as it seems to work very differently to everything I know, but the most annoying problem is that the OWA has never worked from outside the LAN.

We use an SSL Certificate and access inside the LAN works fine, but when you try to access OWA from outside the LAN it first gives you a Forms Authenticaion login screen asking for Domain/Username and the only way to move on is to enter your user name and password, you are then faced with a similar screen asking for just your usernmae and password, once this has been completed it then displays a meaasage saying The Page Cannot Be Found error (Explanation: The Web server connection was closed), so basically it is accepting the login credentials, but refusing to access the application.

I should explain that this is controlled by an ISA Server.

Something I don't understand is that with Exchange 2003 the OWA URL has to be the same name on the certificate but with 2007 there is an Internal and External URL and the internal URL is the name on the certificate but the External URL begins with www and is nothing like the name on the certificate.

Is there a step by step tutorial covering this fairly complex procedure.

HELP !!!!!!

What's providing the FBA and where is the certificate?
What is the result if you just drive TCP443 from the Internet to the CAS and bypass anything on the ISA or at least just drive 443 through it rather than publish OWA?

I really don't know 2007 well enough to be able to know what is going on, so I have disabled Forms Authentication and everything is working ok now, so will leave it like that.

We may be losing this Server soon and getting a new one and I think I will insist it has Exchange 2003 as 2007 is so overly complicated

Thanks for trying to assist.

Unless you had Exchange 2003 in your organization (i.e. in your AD forest) before you put Exchange 2007 in there you WILL NOT be able to put an Exchange 2003 box in there.
