We currently use smtp for mail on our exchange server, i want to been able to allow users to access the exchange from outside the company network using an outlook client & CRM. If i enable the imap4 protocol will this affect the othe rmail setting and users mailboxes.
If this is a problem can you let me know of another way to all the users to access the exchange from outlook. I also looked at RPC over HTTP but unsure how good this it and also would this still affect the mail.

Help

RPC over HTTPS is the preferred remote access solution. IMAP is at the bottom of the list, just above POP3. RPC over HTTPS is completely transparent to the users, so after configuring it in the client nothing more needs to be done. To use IMAP for remote access limits functionality and either requires the use of two profile or duplication of content.

If RPC Over HTTPS is possible then use that.

Simon.
