taologic -> Monitor pop3 email and Copy Emials to another user based on Content? (1.Jul.2008 4:52:17 AM)

Hi all ,

I have an issue and i cannot seem to see the wood for the tree's as such,

Incoming mail comes into exchange 2003 server, one of the users wants a copy of any mails that come in having the word(s) "complaint/complaints" in the subject header or message content.

The original email still has to goto the recipient , just be copied to the supervising user should a complaint be raised in an email.

Is this possible without a 3rd party application? if not does anyone know of a relevant 3rd party application i could use to solve this problem.

Kindest Regards, Adam

Wouldn't a mailbox rule suffice for your requirement?

im a little new to exchange could you give me a pointer as to finding where to add the rules? i had a quick look and found routing incoming emails to alternative alias's but nothing to do with routing based on content.

Were using Small Business Server 2003 Exchange btw.

Kind Regards,
Adam

It's done at the client-level.  Specifically Outlook.  The user who wants this rule needs to configure it (Tools-->Rules and Alerts).

Ahh i see yes i found those options as with the same on Outlook Web Edition but i was trying to find a solution that was server based that way options on the clients could not be changed or disabled later on by error or intented by the client user.

What you want isn't part of out-of-the-box Exchange.  You'd either have to write your own Event sink or look for a 3rd-party product.
