jlhutto -> owa not working (3.Jul.2008 2:35:36 PM)

Recently, I uninstalled Trend Micro Scan Mail and now my OWA is not working.
The normal uninstall did not work and we had to manually uninstall the software.
Of course, they could not help and deny causing the problem.

So, now OWA will not load.  When I try to load from the exchange 2007 server using   - https://localhost/owa   or https://ip/owa  I get the following IE error.

Line: 7
Char: 1
Error:  Syntax
Code: 0
URL:  https://localhost/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=https://localhost/owa&reason=0

Nothing loads.  Not even the logon form.

Can anyone help please?

Remove the virtual directories using EMC and then recreate them.

The command you need to remove them is remove-owavirtualdirectory:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998237(EXCHG.80).aspx

The command to recreate them is new-owavirtualdirectory:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123752(EXCHG.80).aspx

You should also check that the asp.net version is correct on the virtual directories/web site. It should be 2.0.

Simon.

Thanks for the reply.   I checked a few other forums and found where someone else had the same problem.  They re-installed Update 2 for Exchange 2007 sp1.
So, that's what I tried.  It worked.

I just did not want to have to rebuild anything in IIS unless I just absolutely had too.  I downloaded Update 2 and re-installed it.  Everything is working now.

Thanks

As Sembee eluded to:

Remove-OWAVirutalDirectory and New-OWAVirtualDirectory are actually much quicker and easier (maybe safer) than reinstalling the update. It literally rebuilds the virtual directories and sets all the permissions to their defaults and is usually 1st on the list rather than last resort. It doesn't affect IIS per se.

I have had a similar issue.  Uninstalling rollup 3 fixed it.  I have not yet re-installed the rollup.
