joelmcmillin -> OWA not working on new install (17.Dec.2008 10:06:31 AM)

I just installed Exchange 2007 and OWA is not working at all.  I installed the CAS on a separate server than the Mailbox/Hub Transport server.  When I try to connect to OWA I just get a blank screen.  I try it using an E2K7 mailbox and using http://server/owa and I also tried it using an E2K3 mailbox and using http://server/exchange. Neither works.  Not sure what I did wrong or what to check.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the CAS and I still get the same problem.  Anyone have any ideas?

I would have rebuilt the box, rather than just uninstalling the role. I work on a simple basis that a server should work straight out of the box, if it does not then Exchange is removed and the server wiped and rebuilt.

Does the Hub Transport Role also have to be installed on the CAS server? Right now the HT role is on the Mailbox server.

HUB doesn't have to be installed on the CAS. Although where I have been splitting CAS from Mailbox I have often taken HUB with it as well, so that the mailbox server is doing just that.

With the HT role on the CAS server will I still be able to use OWA with my E2K3 server and my E2K7 server?

Sembee -> RE: OWA not working on new install (18.Dec.2008 10:43:36 AM)

Yes. The only restriction is on CAS and Mailbox being on the same server.
CAS and Hub are almost identical in functionality to an Exchange 2003 frontend server.

I also get this error when I run test-owaconnectivity in the Exchange Management Shell on the CAS server.

WARNING: Test user 'CAS_707cd04197914a41' cannot be accessed. Therefore, this cmdlet will be unable to test Mailbox server 'MBserver.domain.com'.  Test-OwaConnectivity : Could not find or log on with user domain.com\CAS_707cd04197914a41. By default, exchange 2007 uses HTTPS for OWA. Have you tried https://servername/owa?

joelmcmillin -> RE: OWA not working on new install (18.Dec.2008 2:43:17 PM)

Yes. If I try to use http://server/owa it gives me a message saying that I need to use https.  When I try https://server/owa I get the message that IE can't display the webpage.

de.blackman -> RE: OWA not working on new install (19.Dec.2008 11:32:48 AM)

What happens when you try to access https://servername??

joelmcmillin -> RE: OWA not working on new install (19.Dec.2008 1:54:56 PM)

It would do the same thing.

Now I have a new issue. Sembee's suggestion was to rebuild the CAS server. I did that. Now when I try to install the CAS and HT roles, the HT role pre-check gives me this warning: "Setup cannot detect an SMTP or Send connector with an address space of '*'. Mail flow to the Internet may not work properly."

Sembee -> RE: OWA not working on new install (19.Dec.2008 2:47:08 PM)

That shouldn't be a fatal error.
Do you have any Exchange 2003 servers? If so, create an SMTP Connector in there. If not then ignore the error.

I went ahead with the installation and owa works now.  Now I just need to configure it to work like our E2K3 owa.  Inside the firewall uses http and logs in automatically using windows authentication. Outside the firewall uses https and goes through ISA 2006.

joelmcmillin -> RE: OWA not working on new install (19.Dec.2008 3:47:47 PM)

When I apply "Rollup 3 for Exchange 2007 Service Pak 1" the OWA stops working. When I go back to the snapshot I made prior to installing the update it works again. Weird!

Sembee -> RE: OWA not working on new install (19.Dec.2008 4:14:52 PM)

Rollup 3! Are you sure about that?
Rollup 5 is the latest.
