Hi All,

I have an Exchange 2003 / 2007 forest with Mailbox, Client Access and Hub transport servers configured with a single Edge Transport server also configured. Mail flow between the 2K3 and the 2K7 mailbox work fine. When 2K7 mailbox users send mail out of the domain I notice no NDR's are sent however the messages are stuck on the ET server with Last Error showing 451 4.4.0 DNS query failed. I've logged on to the edge transport server and from a command prompt been able to resolve the mx records for the destination domain and using telnet I've been able to open a SMTP session to the target and send mail.

Anybody any idea's please???

Go to the server configuration and in the properties, go to External DNS lookup tab. Select "Use network card DNS settings" and then drop down the list and select the network card of the server.

Restart the DNS client service in the PC and the transport service. It should work.
