Something very strange is happening to my boss.  When replying to a specific email address his outlook hangs and only comes out of it when he gets an email.  It only happens when replying to one email address, it is an aol.com address.  Anyone have any idea as to what may be causing this?

try this. When composing an email type the first couple of letters of the person with the aol.com address and hit the delete key. This will delete the address from the outlook history. Try manually typing the person's email address again.

Else, it sounds like his NK2 file found in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook location is corrupted. I would suggest to rename the file and create a new outlook profile.

You can also ask your Boss to reply back to that aol.com email using OWA, does that also hangs the mailbox?
 
This might help in eliminating issue with mailbox or settings of outlook.
