Hi,

Is it an online backup or offline backup you are trying to restore?

Online backup/restore

Is backup getting catalogue successfully?
Do you select the check box of this is last restore set or you trying to run /cc command and replay the log files manually.

Let me know the steps that you are trying to restore the information store.

Regards,
Ashish Joshi

Please let us know what is the error that you get on the screen when you try to restore the backup? Also let us know what information do you get from the Backup report and the Application/System Logs?

Also do check if you have Recovery Storage Group enabled. If its enabled and no stores are under it; the Restore will fail.

Double-check that the check-box "This database can be over-written by a restore" is checked on the properties of the stores and that they are mounted.

Hi,

Event Ids tells that you have RSG enabled and no stores added into it as you say that RSG is not enabled.

Please make sure that you dismount the stores while restoring the back as when the stores are online restore will not work. Can you copy paste the event ids in the logs with error code and also the description of the error when restore fails.

You can also try rebooting the box and then try doing a restore, check if this helps

c1041724 is the common error code  while mounting the stores.

How did you restored the offline copy of the backup?

Check the header information of the databases by running
eseutil /mh "path of the database .edb"
Check the state of the db if they are clean or dirty shutdown state, if in dirty shutdown state how many log files are required to make the database in clean state.
If it is in clean shutdown state then remove all the log files from the existing transaction log file location and then try to mount the stores.

Any related event id's come up in application log??

Did u perform a hard recovery after restoring the databases?? There will be a folder created inside "C:\TEMP" which includes the restore.env along with some log files.

First, take a copy of that folder which contains the restore.env.

In the command prompt, take the syntax to the bin folder and perform eseutil /cc "Path of the folder that contains the resore.env and logs"

Remember, check for the last log file that is present in the folder with restore.env and make sure if the very next log file is present in the production location. If there is even 1 log file that is  not in sequence, the /cc command will fail..
In tahtc ase, you can run the command with eseutil /cc "Path of the folder that contains the resore.env and logs" /t.

The /t switch will ignore the logs in teh production therey by resulting in data loss after the last back up was taken..

Hope thsi helps..

Are you seeing Event ID:619 in the event log when you try to mount the stores ?
Let us know few events generated during the mount process.

We can perform soft recovery on databases that are not from any restoration and is directly on production. However, soft recovery will fail when you perform it on a restored database.

We should perform eseutil /cc "Path of the restore.env containing folder" as this will bring the database to a clean state by playing the patch files.
