Hi,

My exchange setup is Exchange 2007 on Windows 2003 R2 x64.

I'm having an issue where emails that I submit from a php webpage to the exchange server seem like they are being throttled.

My php web page submits 4 mail calls which sends 4 seperate emails to the exchange server. It takes so long for it to process that the php page times out due to a 30 second limit. Even if i only send 2 of the 4 emails it still takes a long time, abour 15 -  20 sec. If I route the emails to my other mail server which runs Sendmail on a Linux box, the emails send off instantly.

I have added the web server to the exchange allowed IP list to bypass content filtering.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
-Mark

Hi,

Is this only the problem with the PHP page ? Try turning on some extra logging for smtp, this can be done via Powershell or the Exchange management console:

Powershell:
Set-ReceiveConnector "Connector Name" -ProtocolLoggingLevel verbose

EMC
open EMC
go to server configuration
select the hub transport server
select receive connectors
select the specific connector and get the properties
set protocol logging to verbose

Send the mail again and post the logging here.

This is not a problem with the php page. I set up an account in outlook express to test and the same thing happens. The email takes about 10 seconds to send. The email then appears in my exchange inbox. Outlook express just says sending email. Could this be dns related? My exchange server is also configured as a dns server as well.

Here is what the log outputted.
