Has anyone got this to install in Windows 7?

If so please help?

mark@mvps.org -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (6.Mar.2009 11:13:19 AM)

I had a go a while back before I got insanely busy and had to move on. I had the problem in that EMC wouldn't 'see' the forest. I really need to get back on that. Perhaps a job for the weekend :-)

This was released for Vista but won't install in 7 and I have heard to not try.

Also is it true no outlook on the machine you are using exchange system manager!

Ohh, hang on. You said "Exchange System Manager" as in Exchange 2003. I was on 2007 (and 14 actually).
No, don't even bother with Exchange 2003 ESM and W7.

SofaKing -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (29.Apr.2009 3:41:47 PM)

I have got it to work with Windows 7 (Build 7077), integrated in ADU&C and Hyena 7.5.

I already had "Internet Information Services" and "Remote Server Administration Tools" installed from Windows Features. I am using Office 2007 with Outlook.

Downloaded ESM for Vista.

Downloaded and installed Orca MSI Editor in ORCA MSI Editor.

Unpacked the ESMVISTA.MSI and opened it in the Orca Editor.

Deleted the following two actions in the InstallUISequence table:
* CA_SET_ERROR_MSG
* FatalErrorDialog

Then I also removed the text "(VersionNT = 600) And " from the condition statements in the ControlEvent and InstallExecuteSequence Tables.

Once I saved those changes, it installed with no errors or issues. Let me know if it worked for you!

Thanks SofaKing! Your method worked 100% for the install, but I am still unable to get the Exchange tabs in AD. I tried to play with it for a couple of hours last night but was unsucessful. Am I missing something?

SofaKing -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (4.May2009 3:43:01 PM)

I'm not sure. I worked from a standard install, no oddities or strangeness happened during the installs. It was a fresh install, with just the software listed.

I did forget to mention it was attached to a domain, but you can't install the Remote Server Admin Tools unless you are.

Although this may be a moot point, since Win 7 RC1 has WinXP running virtually in the background.

Logan,

You're a genius!  It worked perfectly for me.  How the hell did you know to make those changes?

Got any tips for getting Blackberry Enterprise Server Manager 4.1 to work in Windows 7?

Thanks again,
jeremy

cfcampbel -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (14.Jan.2010 3:21:40 PM)

I followed SofaKings instructions and got ESM functional in Windows 7 but....I'm unable to move a mailbox.  Keep getting error message "The information store could not be opened. The logon to the Microsoft Exchange server computer failed.

MAPI 1.0 ID no: 80040111-0286-00000000"

Anyone else experiencing the same problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Can you not have Outlook 2007 running on the same workstation as ESM?  thanks

ciazzetta -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (20.Jan.2010 9:42:42 AM)

When i make the following changes to the MSI that you suggested I get the following error message.

The Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing the package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2356.

Any ideas?

cfcampbel -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (20.Jan.2010 11:18:14 AM)

I would try editing it again.  Maybe you made a mistake somewhere....or i can send you my edited version.

ciazzetta -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (20.Jan.2010 11:33:17 AM)

I did try to edit the msi a few times and recieved the same error message. If you could send me your edited version that would be great.

cfcampbel -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (20.Jan.2010 12:34:56 PM)

can i get your email address?

cfcampbel -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (20.Jan.2010 12:49:58 PM)

MSI is too large for me to email....sorry.  Do you have an ftp site?

ciazzetta -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (20.Jan.2010 1:05:41 PM)

no i dont, but thank you for help. I guess i will keep on trying to edit the msi file. Do you have 32Bit or 64Bit of Windows 7?

cfcampbel -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (20.Jan.2010 5:43:29 PM)

32bit...

ciazzetta -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (21.Jan.2010 12:17:56 PM)

do you know if this works for 64bit?

cfcampbel -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (21.Jan.2010 6:27:49 PM)

I do not know if it works for 64bit....have not tried

vickerstech -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (1.Feb.2010 6:10:54 PM)

No it won't work on 64bit Windows 7 or Vista. I tried for days and ended up installing 32bit, which kinda sucks.

bergerp -> RE: Windows7 and Exchange System Manager (9.Feb.2010 11:17:35 AM)

I got ESM working in Win7x64 using "sofaking" directions. Yeah!
However like the others I don't see the Exchange attributes in my ADUC MMC.
Almost there....almost there....
