We have just  migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. It is running on Server 2008 Enterprise(64 bit) edtn. The problem is that EdgeTransport.exe is hogging the cpu (around 90 - 97%) and the cpu is running at 100%

The message queues are pretty empty, just abot 10 messages when I last looked. There are about 127 mailboxes and the system is running as a single server in a single domain.

The hardware is a Dell PE2950 with 4gbytes RAM.

Any suggestions as to where we should be looking for a cause of this problem greatly appreciated.

I thought I'd cracked this one. Unchecked IPv6 from the NIC and removed IPv6 entries from hosts file.

A reboot and all burst into life with edgetransport.exe running at 0 - 1%.

One day later it is hogging out the cpu again!!!

Currently I have set the affinity to only 1 of the 2 cpus so at least other apps get a look in.

Any suggestions anyone?

I cannot see anything untoward in eventviewer and the queues look ok. I installed Rollup 7 yesterday and things looked fine then.
