Hi Everyone, I am currently attempting a restore of Mailboxes from an Exchange 2007 server to another Exchange 2007 server on a different AD with different server names etc. I am able to create a recovery storage group and create the new recovery mailbox database and furthermore I can restore the backup from NTBACKUP in Windows 2003 to this recovery mailbox database. The problem I am hitting is after I have restored the mailbox data to the server I want to mount the restored database and the following error is what I am receiving. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [PS] C:\backup\restore\data>Mount-Database -Identity 'ExchangeRestore\Mailbox Database' Mount-Database : Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified. Specified database: ExchangeRestore\Mailbox Database; Error code: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x8000400 5, ec=1276) .At line:1 char:15 + Mount-Database <<<< -Identity 'ExchangeRestore\Mailbox Database' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I used the following command: Mount-Database –Identity ‘ExchangeRestore\Mailbox Database’ Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on here? Has anyone actually performed a restore like this. I just need to pull the mailboxes out of the backup and place them on the new server. Thanks. TommyTom.

On the new server the storage group path and mailbox database name must be the same as the old one.

Hi, I have the same problem with the same error. I am trying to restore Exchnage 2007 to different server. Error is: -------- "Exchange is unable to mount database that you specified...ErrorCode: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database .hr=0x80004005, ecc=-544" ------- Storage group and mailbox database paths are the same as on previous server. When I do restore with NTBACKUP, restore takes 1 sec long, but there is 1,5 GB of mailbox (this is testing enviroment). with no error in report file. Public Folder database is restored fine and mounted successfully. Other error in event viewer are folowing: -- MSExchangeIS (1936) First Storage Group: Attempted to attach database 'E:\FSTGBOX\Mailbox Database.edb' but it is a database restored from a backup set on which hard recovery was not started or did not complete successfully. --- Error 0xfffffde0 starting database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Database" on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. --- MSExchangeIS (1936) First Storage Group: The database engine stopped the instance (0).

I do the folowing and am now able to mount database,. eseutil /p "parth-to-database" and it reported this .... ---------- Repair completed. Database corruption has been repaired! Note: It is recommended that you immediately perform a full backup of this database. If you restore a backup made before the repair, the database will be rolled back to the state it was in at the time of that backup. Operation completed successfully with 595 (JET_wrnDatabaseRepaired, Database cor ruption has been repaired) after 5.922 seconds. ----------- Aftre that I successfully monted database but now when I log to OWA to my account , there are old mail items and when I select any of them, message window say : ----- "The item that you attempted to access no longer exists." The item was not found. You or a delegate may have moved or deleted the item while using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Web Access from another computer or from a mobile device. ---- I do restor from backap again after that, and I am at the begining of problem. Cannot mount database, with same error.
