Entourage 2008 Connection Help - 14.Apr.2009 10:47:38 AM

I have a client in my network running on Mac OS 10.5.6 running Office 2008 Standard patched to version 12.1.5 (081119). Recently they have been unable to receive/send mail. When trying to send an error message appears. The error code at the bottom is -18596. The error message says HTTP error. The resource is not found. I have not been successful in finding support on the web for this kind of error. I'm not really sure where to begin looking.

I have tried reading the error logs on Exchange but they do not show anything unusual or anything referring to a failed connection attempt to the Exchange server. I tried following this link: http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800506181/mpage_1/key_entourage/tm.htm#1800506181 regarding WebDAV but I'm not really sure what needs to be adjusted here if anything. I appreciate any assistance.

One thing I should add. We transitioned from Exchange 2003 to 2007. The 2007 is running on Server 2008. In IIS 7, when I click on the /exchange virtual directory I get an error message stating: Could not find a part of the path '\\.\BackOfficeStorage\domain.local\MBX\'. In the PS, when I do Get-OwaVirtualDirectory, I see the following returned:

[PS] C:\Windows\System32>Get-OwaVirtualDirectory

Name Server OwaVersion
---- ------ ----------
owa (Default Web Site) WKPDEXG01 Exchange2007
Exchange (Default Web S... WKPDEXG01 Exchange2003or2000
Public (Default Web Site) WKPDEXG01 Exchange2003or2000
Exchweb (Default Web Site) WKPDEXG01 Exchange2003or2000
Exadmin (Default Web Site) WKPDEXG01 Exchange2003or2000

Getting more detail I do:
[PS] C:\Windows\System32>Get-OwaVirtualDirectory | fl 'Name', 'FolderPathName',

Name : owa (Default Web Site)
FolderPathname :
MetabasePath : IIS://WKPDEXG01.domain.local/W3SVC/1/ROOT/owa

Name : Exchange (Default Web Site)
FolderPathname : \\.\BackOfficeStorage\domain.local\MBX
MetabasePath : IIS://WKPDEXG01.domain.local/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Exchange

Name : Public (Default Web Site)
FolderPathname : \\.\BackOfficeStorage\domain.local\Public Folders
MetabasePath : IIS://WKPDEXG01.domain.local/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Public

Name : Exchweb (Default Web Site)
FolderPathname : \\.\BackOfficeStorage\domain.local\ExchWeb
MetabasePath : IIS://WKPDEXG01.domain.local/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Exchweb

Name : Exadmin (Default Web Site)
FolderPathname : \\.\BackOfficeStorage
MetabasePath : IIS://WKPDEXG01.domain.local/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Exadmin

I'm not sure now what to do or look at to fix this. But each one of the legacy virtual directories gives me the same error message in IIS when I try to set permissions or look at the folder view.

Can anyone give me some advice how to figure this out? I'm not sure if it's because of the legacy virtual directories from when we had 2003 before we demoted and removed the 2003 server. I've tried every different way of setting up the Entourage account settings but nothing works. Every time I get no new mail and when I send I get the HTTP Response error. Is it possible there is a virtual directory issue here? I've tried everything I can find on the net and nothing seems to work. Let me know if anyone has an idea where to fix this. Thanks.

Has anyone seen this. I haven't heard anything and there is very little support on the Entourage client. Just seeing if anyone might be able to help me resolve this issue with getting the mac clients to work with my exchange environment.
