Hi

I am in the process of moving of a substantial number of mailboxes around our Exchange 2003 servers. A number of moves are failing - �This mailbox exceeded the maximum number of corrupted items specified for this move mailbox operation�.

When I retried the move again with �Skip corrupted items and create a failure report� set to maximum number of corrupted items to skip to 5. Although the move was successful a substantial amount of the mailbox had disappeared.

Does anyone know how this happened?

What procedures or/and best practices are there that will ensure a number of corrupted mailbox can move with as little impact and data loss for the users and minimal work from the IT department?

Lots of bad pages in the database is one explanation.
Before you did the second move I would have done an exmerge of the mailbox. Too late now but bear that in mind for the next move. It might take a little longer but you can always delete the resulting PST if the mailbox moved ok without too much missing.

Got any events logged in the application log? I'd expect that there would be.
