OWA Help - 21.May2009 11:00:48 AM

I need some help. One of my clients has only been with us for about 6 months but has been running SBS 2003 under many different tech support companies. Recently, the boss has asked me to have the OWA portion run. I know by default it is enable but whenever I attempt to go to http://serverip/exchange, It says it cannot find the page. Under further review, I found that the default website had been deleted under IIS manager. I was wondering if anyone knows how to recover or build from scratch the default website and get the OWA working again. I've checked out at least 3 books at the local library and none of them really answer my question.

Many Thanks in advance!

Try this:
http://www.ssw.com.au/ssw/KB/KB.aspx?KBID=Q889546
to recreate the Default Web Site.  Then, if you are lucky, the OWA directories will be created if you restart the server, but if not, try this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883380

Well a system restart didn't work and now I'm waiting 15 minutes after deleting the DS2MB.

Check your Event log for errors related to DS2MB or MSExchangeMU.  Also, verify that your new site has an ID of 1.  You can see the ID in the RH pane of IIS, if you click on the Web Sites container.

Yeah it definitely does not have the ID of 1, it currently has an ID of 390643171. Looking at event logs now...

Ok so I couldn't find any errors with DS2MB and the only thing for MSExchangeMU was listed with this:
quote:

Metabase Update agent has determined that Internet Information
Services is running in IIS 5 Isolation mode. Exchange Server requires
that IIS 6 is using Worker Process Isolation mode. Metabase Update
agent will now change the IIS configuration from IIS 5 Isolation mode
to Worker Process Isolation mode. During this process, both 'World
Wide Web Publishing' and 'HTTP SSL' services will be restarted.

Finally Got it working!!! Ok it took me to delete the newly recovered website. Remove all the keys for DS2MB in metabase explorer AND delete key number 1 under W3SVC because was still seeing that the Default website was still there. Then recovering the default website and restarting the server.

Many thanks to you, leederbyshire, for getting me the proper info.
