Hello  Guys

We are in the process of deploying Exchange 2007 in  Parent /Child Domain

Parent Domain -   tlroot  ( 2 Domain Controllers)
Child Domain   -   tlgroup.tlroot ( 1 Domain Controller)

This is active directory integrated DNS and single site.

The parent domain is preped for Exchange 2007 with 32 Bit Exchange
Logged on an Enterprise Admin and issued the following

1.setup.com/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions
2.setup.com/PrepareAD
3.setup.com/PrepareDomain
4.setup.com/PrepareALLDomains

All success.

The child domain also preped for Exchange 2007 with 32 Bit Exchange
Logged on as Domain Admin and issued

1. setup.com/PrepareDomain
2.setup.com/PrepareAd
Success and waited for replication.

However when we run the Exchange 2007 64 Bit on the Windows 2003 Ent(x64) , the pre requistes fail stating that - "The server is not in the same site as Schema master . Please re run the setup.com/PrepareAD in the parent domain."

Can u tech guys advice on this

Hi,

Please ensure that in active directory sites & services the servers are in the same site.

Hello Geek

I think you didnt read my forum properly . I had already mentioned the 3 Domain controllers ( 2 from the Parent Domain Controller and 1 from the child domain controller) are in the single and same site.

I am reading some interesting artciles

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224.aspx

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995868.aspx

Let me try this out.

Also welcome for some other suggestions

Hi,

Sorry didn't read that line, try the technet articles you mentioned yourself and let me know if this fixes the issue. If not please update the log that setup creates.

Hello Guys

After a bit of struggle , this problem has been sorted out. Let me explain the steps taken to sort this out.

1. First the latest ES2K7SP1 32 Bit was downloaded the run the sysprep on the 32 Bit DC with the above . ( In fact i was trying with Exchange 2007 32 Bit Beta version - Hence may be the DC's were not properly sysprepped)

2.The DC were prepared for Exchange 2007 from the power shell installed

3. Included the entire command during preparation as follows on the root domain controller

setup.com /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions /Domaincontroller:_ _ _ _ (Root DC)
setup.com /PrepareSchema /DomainController:_ _ _ _ _ _ (Root DC)
setup.com /PrepareAD /DomainController:_ _ _ _ (Root DC)
setup.com /PrepareDomain:root.ad /DomainController:_ _ _ _ (Root DC)
setup.com /PrepareDomain:child.root.ad /DomainController:_ _ _ _  ( Root DC)

Did not perform any steps on the child domain controllers.Child domain controller was prepared earlier with Exchange 2007 32 Bit Beta .

And the procedeed to install Exchange 2007 SP1 (64 Bit) on the exchange server successfully.

Thanks to all
