I recently setup Exchange 2007 and I am unable to relay thru the server.  I have 3rd party systems that use the Exchange server to relay thru for email notifications.  (i.e. Backup Exec, Dell Equallogic SAN, etc.)

I still have my Exchange 2003 server running as I have not migrated the user accounts to the 2007 yet.

I can relay just fine thru the Exchange 2003 but not 2007.

I have 2 hub transport servers and I have configured both of them to allow the IP addresses of my other devices.  (i.e Server Config, Hub Transport, then Properties, Network tab)

Can the source server resolve the target?  can you ping both directions by name and by IP directly?

What happens when you go to the source server and manually do a telnet and work through the smtp commands one at a time?

I figured it out.  I had to restart the hub transport service on my Mail5 server.  I was then able to relay thru it by using the main NIC IP address.  There's 2 NICs installed:  1 is the main nic and the other is used for NLB because it's a combo HT/CAS server.

I couldn't get it to work by using the NLB ip address but I think I'll just leave that IP address solely for NLB use.
