Sallo -> #5.5.0 smtp;555 RCPT TO syntax error (#5.5.2) (30.Jul.2009 3:10:38 PM)

I have a user that gets the following rejection when he sends emails to a bunch of recipients:
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.  Please contact your system administrator.<mail.domain.msft #5.5.0 smtp;555 RCPT TO syntax error (#5.5.2)>

We have about 550 addresses that we are sending to and we put everyone in the BCC field. I tried breaking the list in half but still fails.

I have been all over google on this and have come up with nothing. Any advice on where to start would be great.

Thanks,
Sallo

How are these outbound messages created?  In Outlook?  Using an application?  I question the method because Outlook/Exchange does not generate SMTP syntax errors for the RCPT TO command.  Look at your SMTP log for one of these messages - you may be able to spot what is going on.
