Exchange 2003 has been working perfectly. Suddenly outlook is not downloading any external emails. Seems to be since the last windows update. Can anyone help me?

if I send an email to myself, it appears in the outlook inbox but there are 13 emails sitting on the server that I can see via mail2web.com that are not downloading

Outlook was configured and working fine. Hadn't received any emails for 2 weeks so checked on mail2web to see if there were any emails sitting on the server.

Outlook was working fine until a couple of weeks ago. Seems to have been the same time as a windows update.

Outlook hasn't downloaded any messages for 2 weeks.

You'll have to bear with me as I'm an amateur; I can't find the pop3 settings in outlook. In tools accounts, there is the name of the exchange server rather than pop3 settings. This is how it was when it was working.

Telnetting?

adrian,

which MS Outlook r u using? 2000,2003 or 2007.

According to me, the windows update must have caused this problem.

Please answer the following questions:

Is "mail2web.com" your local Mail Server that u r accessing using OWA
or it is the MailServer of your ISP?

If you are using the account provided by your ISP to access your e-mails ,then
most probably the windows update on your computer must have blocked
the mails from being viewed in your Outlook . What u do is simply re-install
your MS-Outlook. (Use this option if you are sure that the Mail Server is geting new e-mails). Use this step after you have checked all the settings of your MS-Outlook eg. SMTP and POP3 address.

If you have the Mail Server in your local network,then you can check your
Mail Server by directly logging into it using your domain user account.

mail2web.com is just a website that you can look at your the emails sitting on your server if you know your server/username/password. Anyone can use it. It is not part of my setup. I've just been using it while outlook has stopped downloading my emails.

I am using an email account I have created. I have my own domain with three email addresses I use.

The mail sever is getting new emails.

all sorted!!

turns out the people who host my domain had their server crash. they've got it all back up but changed a setting. they needed to change my email to push not pull. smtp not pop3. hope that makes sense.

thanks for your help though
