Well I dived in and installed SP2 this morning. There was me thinking 'oh it's just another hotfix update that'll stop services, install some new .exe & .dll files etc and start services and away we go' WRONG! It removes Exchange and re-installs everything! 45 heart-stopping minutes later and lots of green ticks the server was back.

And, after all that, when you go into Exchange and click on 'About Exchange' it doesn't say that SP2 is installed, I guess it's the actual version number that says it all.

Updating the 32bit Management console on a second server flashed through in about 5 minutes.

I've no idea what has changed, if anything, from SP1 RU9 but it's done.

Yeah, IIRC the SP2 is a slipstreamed set of the entire product just like SP1.

I am really concerned about this, as my exchange is highly customized, especially my CAS servers, very non-standard webservicesurl's and things like that. When it re-installs, does it take all of this into consideration?

That's good to know. Glad it went well for you. Would have been better to know ten minutes ago before I did the same thing
