Routing emails to external addresses - 27.Aug.2009 10:07:21 AM

I am a new forum user and very new to Exchange as well. I have an Exchange 2007 Trial server set up and running, but cannot send emails to external addresses.

My first question is where do I point the server to so that it can send emails to other servers? The internal email system is working fine, but I cannot send emails externally. I suspect a DNS issue, but I don't know where to point it to.

As I said, I am new to Exchange and have a lot to learn. Hope someone can help!

You should create a send connector, this can be done via:

- start the exchange management console
- select organizational configuration
- select the hub server
- select the tab send connector
- create a new send connector by using the wizard

You can deliver mail via DNS or a smarthost. Some providers only will allow the use of a smarthost, in that case configure the smtp server of your ISP as the smarthost.
