Hi,

I am experiencing a very high amount of 7002 events on my exchange server e.g.
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeTransport
Event Category: SMTP Protocol
Event ID: 7002
Date:  12/09/2009
Time:  02:27:05
User:  N/A
Computer: EX-02
Description:
This is an SMTP protocol warning log for virtual server ID 1, connection #420. The remote host "217.14.141.12", responded to the SMTP command "rcpt" with "450 4.1.1 <inboardyx78@rostab.com>: Recipient address rejected: undeliverable address: mail for rostab.com loops back to myself  ". The full command sent was "RCPT TO:<inboardyx78@rostab.com>  ".  This may cause the connection to fail.

I inially started investigating the underlying cause behind SMTPSVC 2012 and 2013 events stating that DNS servers could not be contacted. Current configuration does not allow relaying (except for the few servers added to the allow list) and I am using Integrated Windows Authentication. Assuming that the DNS servers are fine, and the initial 2012 and 2013 events are logged due to NDRs, can anyone suggest how to further troubleshoot this issue? Things are working fine, but it is a bit nerve wrecking incase this goes any further and potentially starts causing havoc.

Thanks for any help.
