We are starting to get employees that are gettting PDAs running Windows Mobile 6.1.   Whenever they set up their exchange account on their phone the phone is REQUIRING them to enter in a 4 digit PIN to unlock their phone.   The phone locks every 5 minutes and then requires them to put in this pin and it is very aggravating.  The option to turn OFF this "feature" is greyed out and it ONLY happens once they set up their exchange account.  The Phone manufactures (HTC, Samsung, etc.. ) Tech support and the carriers (Verizon, AT&T) tech support have narrowed this down to some kind of policy or security setting within Exchange.   What would be causing this and how can this be turned off?

Any information to help out with this would be greatly appreciated as I am affected by this too and it is a pain in the rear to have to unlock my phone every 5 minutes.

Take a look at your active sync policy in exchange. sounds like you have your default policy applied to all users.

Ok, being that I am NOT the exchange guy, and our Exchange guy said he didn't have a clue where this would be, where can I tell him to look for this policy and how to change it?

Client Access
Exchange Active Sync Mailbox Policies

you need to be an Exchange Org Admin to make changes...

Great!!! Thanks you very much.  Ill pass this info on to the exchange Person.  Im asumming that they will know what EMC stands for and what to change once they get in there?  Im guessing there is some "Pin required" setting or something?

I'll let you know how it goes.  I REALLY hope this fixes it.

Ok, thanks John.  I'll pass this information along.  To Confirm.  My Phone locks every 5 minutes and I have to put in a 4 digit PIN to unlock it before I can do anything else in the phone.  This is only a requirement once I set up Exchange and changing the policy will correct this.
