Hi chaps,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this one as I'm at a bit of a loss.

When sending email to my Exchange 2007 Edge Server from my gmail account, messages are returned with the message:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

     test@test.org

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by therecipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider forfurther information about the cause of this error. The error that theother server returned was: 530 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated(state 13).

The strange thing is that I can send perfectly well from my Hotmail account and occasionally gmail messages have made it through too.  Sending from a few other email accounts also fail - some not even receiving any ndr.

Before anyone tells me to enable anonymous access on my Internet receive connector on the edge server I have already been down that road and it was the first thing I checked.  Also no matter what level of logging I set these failed messages do not appear in these logs.  I know for sure that these messages are making it into network as I can see them entering on the firewall.

For a test I enabled anonymous access on the default receive connector on my Hub Transport server and repointed port 25 on the the firewall and I wss then able to receive all messages from all accounts.  ??????

I have deleted and recreated the edge receive connector numerous times and have made sure that the config is correct by running Get-ReceiveConnector | fl

I am satisfied that it is not a DNS issue.  The thing I just can't understand is why there is absolutely no mention of these non-delivered emails in the SmtpReceive logs.

I'm using edgesync btw and can confirm it's working by running Test-EdgeSynchronization

Can anyone help?
