I'm running a Server 2008 machine with Exchange 2007. The Server box is also running Active Directory. Exchange is working just perfectly, but when people want to change their password through the OWA interface they get an error about the password policy. Now i found this tutorial: http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Configuring-Granular-Password-Settings-Windows-Server-2008-Part-1.html I followed it and applied the new rule, but it seems it is not working. I applied it to the Group Users, because all my exchange users are also in that group (default setup of AD). Am i missing something or did i misconfigure anything? I tried making a simple policy (for testing) 4 chars password, no compexity and history doesnt matter. Any one knows what i did wrong?

Hi, The password policy is now working on the domain, but it isnt working for OWA, i still get a message that it isnt able to change the password. Is there an option in Exchange that i need to enable? Running Server 2008 and Exchange 2007 (x64). So i have read about 2003 and some *.dll file, but that seems not to be needed in 2008.

Hi Johan, I'm using Exchange 2007 with SP2 installed. Running on server 2008 with the latest updates. I'm still facing this issue, changing passwords through Active Directory Users and Computers just goed fine except for the OWA interface. Hope you can help me with this issue. Thanks Bram vd Kerkhof

Bram, What is the exact error just that the password doesn't match the policy ?

Hi Johan, I installed some updates and now it seems to be working. I can change the passwords now, very strange it didnt work earlier. Thanks for the time and support! Bram

Bram, OK that's nice to hear maybe you could let us know which updates so other people who experience this issue also know the solution for the issue.

The service pack 2 for Exchange was installed and after that it seems to work. Dont know if it is because of the install or for some other reason.
