Hi all,

Pardon me, I am a total noobie on MS Exchange 2007.

Recently, I have install Server 2008 successfully,

Roles Added :
Active Directory Domain Services
DHCP Server
DNS Server
Files Services
Network Policy & Access Services
Web Server

Question is, how do I install Exchange server 2007 on this Server 2008. What do I need to prepare first? Any good tips? How do I configure it? One of my ex colleague told me to use PopCon, is it necessary?

I want to read email via outlook online and also via handheld devices, eg Nokia , Blackberry & Iphone.

I really love and willing to learn. I will be forever gratefull !

hi mate,

Recommended to keep the exchange on Member Server rather then keeping it on a Domain Controller.

2 Prospectus:
1) Preparing your AD - Ensure that you have atleast Windows 2000 Native mode and your GC and Schema Master should be Windows 2003 + SP2.
2) System Preparation - Configure your IIS (Based on teh role like for hub you don't really require it, for other roles yes you require it) By the way how you want to have exchange server like all roles in one server or different server + high availability solution. Other aspects like .netframework, powershell etc
see this link : Exchange 2007 System Requirements

Thank you for replying, really appreciate it. As I mentioned earlier, I am a total noobie on this. I really need to dwelve furthur into it.

I would like my Exchange server like all roles in one server. I want it to be as simple as it is, 5 to 10 user max.

I'm still reading & learning from books and web.

Any guidance is welcome.

hi mate,

We have two editions
32bit - for lab only (it will be installed only on 32bit hardware)
64 bit - production use (it will be installed only on 64bit hardware)

There are three version we have
Exchange 2007 RTM version
Exchnage 2007 with SP1
Exchnage 2007 with SP2

You can go with Sp2 or SP1
For downloading exchange 2007 sp2:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=44c66ad6-f185-4a1d-a9ab-473c1188954c&displaylang=en

For installing : you need to concern two aspects -
Active Directory Preparation
Server Preparation.

if you are running exchange 2007 only then https://ip address/owa
Exchange 2007 will have its own certificate - click on continue
Note : OWA will be configured by default.

For Activesync - you need to enable the activesync from the users mailbox properties

Ok, after following ur advise , I manage to see the OWA login screen.
I try to login but failed !
Error message received, Outlook Web Access could not find a mailbox for ....
I guess , I missed out on the creation of the mailbox and Users. After there any foolproof configurations for both of this.

I had drank lots of Redbull to energised my limited capacity brain. Having terrible headache now... hehe !
