I am trying to apply RPC over HTTP/S but am having connection issues. My environment consistes of 2 DC's (Win2003) and an Exchange 2003 server (file & app roles). Both DC's are GC servers. I have followed many articles specifically http://www.petri.co.il/configure_outlook_2003_to_use_rpc_over_http.htm to the letter but when my Outlook Client connects, I do get the login prompt, but no matter what credentials I provide, a connection cannot be established. I installed the RPC over HTTP proxy component on my Exchange server and any changes referred to in the articles, I applied to my Exchange server only. I have not done anything to my DC's........Is there where I failed???

Thanks In Advance for you help.....

Hi,

I am having the same issue.  Have DC, GC and Exchnage on the same server.  Have installed a third party certificate.  Cannot connect from either inside or outside the LAN.  Tries to connect on HTTPS, then reverts TCP/IP. Like WCTExchanger, I followed the same articles.

I have tried everything I can think of.  I am thinking:
  • Is there a Windows service that should be running on the DC/Exchange server that is not?
  • From the Internet, I have only opened port 443 to the Exchange server.  Should there be other ports opened also?
  • Are there any other tests, besides those in the Petri articles, that can show the errors/blocks?

If anyone can help, that would be great.

Thanks in advance.
