We have an Exchange 2007 environment with two CAS/Hub transport servers and then SCC mailbox servers.

We have a single cert on each of the CAS servers for OWA. Clients access OWA via https://mail.domain.com with no problems. Outlook 2007 clients on the other hand would get the security warning when outlook was opened "The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site".

I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940726 to resolve the cert issue by changing the internalurl. The Outlook 2007 clients no longer receive this message but now the problem is that the free/busy schedule and Out of Office do not work. For the Out of Office the message is "your out of office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later." We do have an autodiscovery srv record in DNS per article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940881.

I cannot get past this problem. I am also in the process of replacing a virtual CAS/Hub server with a physical server. I have Exchange CAS/HUB roles installed on this server but have not installed the cert yet or changed the InternalUrl settings. They are still pointing to the FQDN of the server and not the name of the cert.

I noticed that since I have this 3rd server in the mix that I can get the Out of Office and free/busy schedule to work on the Outlook 2007 clients sometimes. If I close Outlook and re-open it the out of office might work or it might not. If I continue to open and close Outlook I can eventually get it to work. If I run the Outlook 2007 ‘Test email autoconfiguration’ I get the following every time.
autodiscover to https://mail.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml failed (0x80072f0c)
autodiscover to https://servername.domain.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml succeeded (0x00000000)

It seems like Outlook 2007 autodiscovery is working using the servername and not the mail.domain.com. How can I get autodiscover to work with the cert?
