Do anyone know how to upgrade Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010?

P.S. I have Exchange 2007 SP2 and Forefront 2010 installed

I think we are alot of people who know how to do that. [;)]

You really need to be more specific with that you need help with not just ask for a generic transition plan. Donīt get me wrong - I love to help you - but a bit more specific would do the trick.

I have only one server with the follwoing installed
Windows Server 2008 SP2 with Domain Controller
Exchange 2007 with all roles
Forefront 2010

I would like to upgrade the Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010

So, what should I do to get it done?

Do you run Small Business Server or regular Server 2008 STD?

Windows Server 2008 Standard

Well, first of all, there is no in place upgrade so you need at least a second machine up and running.

Have you any whishes for High Availability? Now you can get pretty good HA with 2 Exchange 2010 and Database Avaiability Group. Please also remember that LCR is gone in 2010 so if LCR is your current database procection method you need to go with 2 servers and DAG.

What pains (limitations) have you experienced with Exchange 2007? There might be a solution to them in 2010 so list them here and maybe you will be pleasantly surprised.

After that you just install your new Exchange 2010 into existing Exch Org and start moving mailboxes and Public Folders should you have them.

For small Exchange organizations transitioning is rather simple and painless.

That is what I don't want. I have almost 200 users on my exchange.

Also, I am using ESX and virtual machine to do the Exchange 2007. It run very well and it is easy to backup the whole machine.

Now, is there only solution to upgrade 2007 to 2010?

If you only want to bring your Exchange Software up to current release, just add new virtual host where you install a multi-role Exchange 2010 (CAS/HUB/MBX) and start moving mailboxes.

Also have a run with ExBPA - Exchange Best Practice Analyzer - to check if it reports any critical issues. Address accordingly.

Itīs more or less that simple in smaller environments. [:)]
