All,

I am currently running Ex2k7 under windows 2008 R2 and wish to upgrade to Ex2k10 and finally decomisson the Ex2k7 server. I have installed another Win2k8 R2 server but I am a little confused in how to install Ex2k10 and move the mailboxes across. I also would like to keep the same organization name.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Basically you just install a typical (CAS/HUB/MBX) Exchange 2010 on your new box and then move data across to the new Exchange and you should be fine.

Also run Exchange Best Practice Analyzer at the end to check for possible missconfigurations.

Hello thanks for your reply, once I have moved all the mailboxes over how do I cleanly decomission the old Exk27 server?

Just remove from Add/Remove Program from Control Panel

Or use setup.com /mode:uninstall /roles:<whatever roles you have>
