I have a small confusion regarding Exchange 2010/2007 installation. When we trying to install Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2007 with legacy exchange servers like exchange 2003, we should run “/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions”. So I have below concerns.

1)If we have multiple domain infrastructure, Do we need to run “/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions” for all domains in forest. (Exchange 2003 resides only in one domain.)

2)If we have multiple child domains and exchange 2003 installed on one of the child domains, Do I need to run /preparedomain and /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions for all child domains?

3)Do I want to run /prepareAd only on forest root domain or domain root domain ?

1. Run "setup /pl" and this will prepare every domain in the forest that has the Exchange Enterprise Servers and Exchange Domain Servers groups. You can, for more control and testing of success, prepare individual domains via "setup /pl:<FQDN of domain>"

2. You need to "prepare domain" in every domain where you will install Exchange 2010/2007 or where there will be users that use Exchange 2010/2007.

3. Run "PrepareAD" only once from a computer in the same domain and Active Directory site as the schema master.

It's all detailed here:
