I am in the process of installing a new 2010 server into my network wanting it to co-exist with my Exchange 2007 server.  On the new server, I have come to the preparation command - setup /PrepareAD /OrganizationName: <orgname>.  I cannot find in the MS documentation what the <orgname> should be.  Keeping in mind that I want coexistence with by 2007 server should I use the existing 2007 <orgname> or create a new <orgname> ? Current 2007 organization name has been verified using "Get-OrganizationConfig | select name"

Thanks in advance for help and advice.

hi mate,

it should pop-up that information. Can i know what is the Exchange 2007 Version?

It should run prepare ad command without asking you for it.

I am running Exchange Enterprise 2007.  The help-about in the management console reports version 08.00.0685.018.

I have not yet attempted to run the command.  I hadn't considered that it might already know or prompt me for the <org name> if I did run it.  I am leaning towards entering the existing <org name> because it seems to follow with the co-existence theme.

hi mate,

Inorder to have exchange 2010 in your environment you need to have Exhcange 2007 with sp2.

The version which you have provided is the RTM one. you need to upgrade it.

Sorry for the delay

I downloaded SP2 and now need to schedule a installation time.  I was somewhat surprised to find out that my current installation was not at the latest level.    I run my own WSUS server and have been diligent about applying updates.  Matbe SP's for Exchange are not part of the normal updating process.  Regardless, I hope to get the SP install soon and I will report back.  Thanks.
