Have recently upgraded to exchange SP2 and have a issue with the new exchange Auditing feature. whenever i try to access the exchange auditing in event viewer i get a message to check service is running and access is denied. the service is running and the server has been rebooted numerous times since the SP was installed but still get this message but can access all other event logs ok. have seen this question asked on a few sites but not a specific answer to what may be causing it.

Remeber that changes to policies might not be applied until the next time
you start the Exchange Server.

You will get this message when the "Exchange Auditing" log is nog present.
(Start the Event Viewer, expand Applications and Service Logs and check to
see if "Exchange Auditing" is present.)

Needless to say that you will need to have the required permissions to read
that log.
Either you have a second option to view all event logs of Exchange server though Event Log Analyzer
