Hi All,

I'd like to know if this deployment scenario is possible ?

At the moment I've got Exchange Server 2007 which handles all email from and into mydomain.com (user1@mydomain.com), how to integrate my Lotus Domino 6.5 so that a separate domain can still send and receive email with different name: (user2@mynotes.com) ?
so:
Outlook 2007 will be used for sending and receiveing email for user1@mydomain.com
Lotus Notes 6.5 will be used for sending and receiving email for user2@mynotes.com

in my local DC/DNS server the MX record is pointed to the mail.mydomain.com Exchange Server 2007

any kind of help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

Let me conclude your requirement.

You have 2 domains, one of which is running on Lotus(domain mynotes.com) and other one will be on Exhange(mydomain.com). A better option will be to introduce an Edge server(a gateway) and create SMTP routes from it. One route to mydomain.com and other one to mynoites.com. So that the email accept and delivery to both the domains will be handled by the gateway server.

Also read the article below.

Best of luck ..

Thanks for the reply, actually I've got just one AD domain mydomain.com while I'd like to add one Lotus Domino server 6.5 to handle the email flow between mynotes.com and the rest of the world, shall i just create:

Within Lotus i should configure a "smarthost" or "next hop" to send all mail to the SMTP server on the Exchange host.

Within Exchange, I can make it authoritative for the mynotes.com domain, and then add a external relay which sends all email destined to the lotus domino server for *@mynotes.com.
