Hi, is there a way to use the SimpleDisplayName for an internal mail flow ? we changed the setting for the defailt remote domain, but it might be necessary to change it for internal also. is that possible ?

No. Internal mail flow is done by SMTP fro mailbox server to HT and in to the right mailbox server. It's only SMTP. Exchange 2007 doesn't do anything else. Can you explain exactly what your business requirement is? Bear in mind that there is no such thing as an Internal and an External domain in how you phrase your clarification.

In Germany we have to use characters like ö ü ä in display name. Since Apple Mail, several Thunderbird versions and other clients have a problem when exchange is using like müstermän, häns in display name, we were asked to change it to something that does not make the client split up the adresses: read that info here: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;942647&x=9&y=13 anyway, we changed it now for the remote domain, use a simpledisplayname like muestermaen, haens without the characters and that works for external domains. it just came to our mind if that is possible for the internal mailflow (for non-outlook users) also, since we would like to keep the special characters in our global adress list (and the employes also argument that they want their name written correctly in german) thanks for the info !

I see. No, that field is not any use to you in the way that you hope for.
