Hi Everyone, I am hoping that someone can help me.

We have been running an exchange 2003 server for some time and it now is creaking at the seams and required to be upgraded. I have installed another 2007 server along side through the transition method. I can transfer mailboxes between the 2 servers, both ways. I can create mailboxes on either server. I can access OWA on each server.
I cannot transfer messages between the two servers at all. I manually setup the routing group between the servers and as far as I can see the correct bridgeheads are in place. I have a send connector on the exchange 2007 for external mail (Not tested) Everything else is default.

Please anyone help!!!! I think that I have two issues, but they maybe connected.

Issue (1) When I access mailbox from 2007 server through outlook or OWA, any mail that I send does not get sent it stays in the Outbox. It is almost as if the mail transport method has been turned off. Hub transport service started.
Issue (2) When I send mail from 2003 to 2007 mail stay in the 2003 server queues and does not send.

A little more information:-

When I look in ESM on EX 2003 I can see the routing group connector on both servers but my default virtual SMTP service on the 2007 server does not show a status.ie start stop etc greyed out.

The routing group connector once again from ESM on EX2003 shows connecting to the virtual SMTP connector on both servers. That must be difficult when SMTP as a service is not running on the ex2007 server. Is this the issue?? Do I need to remove the SMTP virtual connector, the default routing connector and recreate the connect again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
