I think.?.?., from a normal web browser, if I type in https://mail.company.com/exchange it finds the OWA, but if I just do https://mail.company.com it says the site is still under construction

Sure, but can you browse to the fqdn you are using to access Activesync via?

droid.company.net

yes and no?, When I type in droid.company.net, or https://droid.company.net, it gives me a can ont connect error...https://droid.company.net/oma gives me a service unavailable. It appears the only one that works is the /exchange. OWA ask me to login, but when I do, it says the page can not be displayed.

That's the problem - it can't find the server.

How long has droid.company.net been setup in DNS? Is Wi-Fi turned on? If so, turn it off and try again.

Will do. I guess it has to be something with my phone since others are able to connect to the activesync. But just to make sure the dns is correct. the site droid.company.net should be pointing to our gateway ip right? the correct port is open and firewall is configured. from the firewall though, the exchange server should be able to be found right?

Yes to all that you have said.

if you are using the same fqdn on the other devices and it works, then the Windows Mobile devices should work too.

Either the certificate has not been installed properly or the phone settings are incorrect.

I just noticed, but when I try and type in https://mail.company.net/oma, I get a service unavailable page, does this have anything to do with why I can't get it to sync?

The OMA directory is not used for Activesync, so not necessarily a relation there.

Please have a read through my Exchange 2003 / Activesync blog which should have all you need to check the pre-requisites, check the IIS settings, run tests and fix any errors that the tests highlight.

If you get stuck anywhere - please ask for further guidance.

Still nothing...ok, so lets look at everything again. I've tried deleting all the virtual directories and restarting the IIS services to get them to be recreated. I've factory reset my phone numerous times, and still nothing...The palm and droids still work no matter what these settings are...web works perfect. Activesync connection tester returned good. what else am i missing. The support code I'm getting from activesync is Ox80072EE7 which says the server can't be reached, but the same address is used for the other phones...

Are you using Wi-Fi to connect or 3G?

Have you got a data plan for the phone?

It sounds like a problem with the phone.

Can you browse the web on the phone?

Is the certificate a self-signed certificate or a 3rd party trusted SSL certificate?

If self-signed, have you installed it onto the phone?

What Phone is it and is the ROM up-to-date?

Do you have a website sitting at the same location as your Exchange server and can you browse that, not a /OWA or /EXCHANGE, but a www.yourdomain.com site?

Have you tried changing the DNS servers on the phone to different ones (like your ISP for your Internet connection at the office) and see if that makes it work?

There is no website, just /owa and /exchange

Just tried that, and it didn't work.

Is the certificate a self-signed certificate or a 3rd party trusted SSL certificate?
It's a self-signed certificate

If self-signed, have you installed it onto the phone?
yes, I dragged it to the phone and clicked on it and it says it was installed correctly

3G

Have you got a data plan for the phone?
Yes

It sounds like a problem with the phone.
Can you browse the web on the phone?

Please delete the Activesync account, then set it up again and on the last screen before you click finish, is there an option to make the account dedicated (or similar)?

If there is, please select the option and see if it works.

when I plug the phone in, the activesync setup pops up, and ask if I want to connect the phone to exchange. I check that and when I type in the web address for the exchange server (mail.company.net) it says it can't find the server.
