I am having difficulty displaying all mailboxes for a single database.

Using the shell I type in Get-Mailbox -Database Databasename and I am immediately droped back to a prompt.

What is the correct syntax to display all mailboxes from a single database?

get-mailbox -database "mailbox database e2010" | FL name

change the name of the db to match.

If you don't know the database names, do

get-mailboxdatabase

for that matter, you should be able to do:

get-mailboxdatabase | get-mailbox | FL name

and have it spit out a listing of all mailboxes per database.

or maybe I don't know what you are asking for?

John, thank you for the response. this may only be an issue with my exchange system.

Basically I can use Get-Mailbox and it will display all of the mailboxes.

I can use Get-Mailbox -Server servename and it will display all of the mailboxes for that particular server.

I try to use Get-Mailbox -Database databasename or full path to database within quotes and it drops me back to a command prompt without displaying any information.

I just need to grant full rights for a user account to all mailboxes for a database not the entire server.

Yes I could go through the long process of using the Console but I'd rather use the shell.

how about:

get-mailboxdatabase | add-adpermission -user exchsuper
-extendedrights receive-as

command wrapped.

get-mailboxdatabase | add-adpermission -user exchsuper
-extendedrights send-as

and for what you are looking for in particular...

get-mailboxdatabase | add-adpermission -user PTOWN\MailReaders -accessrights GenericAll

Hey John, thanks for sticking with me on this here.

I should have checked this sooner however, I took a knee jerk reaction to a problem on 1 server and didn't try the command on the other 2 mail clusters. I think I'm on to something here, the -database command works on my other 2 mail clusters and returns results. I only have issues with the 1 mail cluster. I am going to restart both servers this evening to see if this resolves the issue.
