I have finally figured out most issues and am stuck on one right now. From the exchange connectivity test, everything works except this,

Attempting to ping RPC Endpoint 6001 (Exchange Information Store) on server domain.edu
The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.
Additional Details
RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime

There was a link on how to solve it http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd439392%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx
I followed all the suggestions, checked and double-checked everything, but it still does not work.

Any advice?
Thanks.

Hi,

I assume you have looked at this article:

http://www.gurkubondi.net/blog/2009/06/outlook-anywhere-rpc_s_server_unavailable-error-0x6ba-was-thrown-by-the-rpc-runtime/

Did you do something with disabling IPv6 etc?

Yup, I followed that link as well.

Now, regarding disabling IPV6, do you mean just commenting out the host file part (which has been done) or completely disabling IPV6. The following talks about how to do it and some consequences.
http://www.windowsreference.com/networking/disable-ipv6-in-windows-server-20008-full-core-installation/
I can try disabling IPV6 completely by going into the registry, but the only concern is that as noted by a user in the link above, there can be dangerous and ever lasting consequences. I can try just disabling in the NIC if that can help and is not dangerous.

Thanks.

Please don't disable IPv6 :'(!!

AD and exchange communication is preferably done trough IPv6 and many issues can and will turn up! There is no real need to disable IPv6...

Use Port query to check which ports you can communicate from outside/internal network clients.

Secondly, are you able to simply ping that box - leave aside the ports.

443/tcp  open   https
445/tcp  closed microsoft-ds
587/tcp  open   submission
593/tcp  open   http-rpc-epmap
808/tcp  open   ccproxy-http
1801/tcp open   unknown
2103/tcp open   zephyr-clt
2105/tcp open   eklogin
2107/tcp open   unknown
3389/tcp open   ms-term-serv
6001/tcp open   X11:1
6002/tcp open   X11:2
6004/tcp open   X11:4
6005/tcp open   X11:5
6006/tcp open   X11:6
6007/tcp open   X11:7

and following from outside.
PORT    STATE SERVICE
25/tcp  open  smtp
80/tcp  open  http
443/tcp open  https

I am unable to ping from inside and outside. I am unable to connect using outlook anywhere from inside and outside. Before I had to reinstall it, I was able to connect. Not sure what is wrong now.

Please advise. Thanks.

Well if you're not able to ping it... Is the firewall on?
