I have finally figured out most issues and am stuck on one right now. From the exchange connectivity test, everything works except this,

Attempting to ping RPC Endpoint 6001 (Exchange Information Store) on server domain.edu
The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.
Additional Details
RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime

I followed all the suggestions, checked and double-checked everything, but it still does not work. I checked telnet to ports 6001, 6002, 6004, and they are fine.

Any advice?

Did you make change to the IP protocols, such as disable IPv6 ?

did you install the rpc over http service in windows server manager under features?

I'm having the same problem and have been tearing my hair out for 3 days trying to figure it out. Have a Windows Server 2008 as a domain controller and a Windows Server 2003 with Exchange 2007. Installed certificate from a Comodo and works with OWA, no certificate errors.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Make sure the Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service is running on your mailbox server..I ran into this issue on my first test deployment of Exchange 2010 after I built a CAS array, and it turned out to be a firewall blocking port 6001 and 6004 (I believe)

Thanks. I checked and I see that the Client Access service only applies to to Exchange 2010. Also, I can telnet to ports 6001, 6002 and 6004 from the Exchange box so the firewall is not blocking these ports.

I saw post yesterday that suggests that I may need a UC certificate, as my internal FQDN is different to my external FQDN. The external name is mail.mydomain.co.za and the internal name is exchange.mydomain.co.za. Is it possible that my problem is being caused by the fact that the name on the certificate does not match the internal name of the server?

I've seen it complain when you use Outlook Anywhere with a warning prompt..but it wouldn't cause it to fail.

What happens when you run 

Get-OutlookProvider | fl identity,*principal*

I now have my doubts that its a certificate problem. I've run numerous tests and all indicate that there is no problem with the certificate.
However, yesterday I discovered that when I ping the Exchange box I get an IPv6 address as a response. Even though I disabled IPv6 on the box and added the necesary registry key. I tried to uninstall IPv6 completely via remote desktop yesterday but then lost the connection so I am going to the site this morning to finish it. What do you think of this?
