kayasaman -> Error when trying to install a second Exchange 2010 server into a domain?? (29.Jul.2010 3:14:09 AM)

Hi,

I'm getting this error:

[07/27/2010 07:05:11.0593] [1] [ERROR] The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); set-ExchangeServerRole -Identity $RoleFqdnOrName -IsHubTransportServer:$true -DomainController $RoleDomainController" was run: "Property IsHubTransportServer can't be set on this object because it requires the object to have version 0.1 (8.0.535.0) or later. The object's current version is 0.0 (6.5.6500.0).".

[07/27/2010 07:05:11.0593] [1] [ERROR] Property IsHubTransportServer can't be set on this object because it requires the object to have version 0.1 (8.0.535.0) or later. The object's current version is 0.0 (6.5.6500.0).

Wehn trying to install a second Exchange 2010 server. I originally migrated from Server 2k3 Exchange 2k3 32bit combo to 2k8R2 64 bit which am using as a "bounce or swing" server since my company runs AD and Exchange on teh same machine.

The work is being done on a test domain on a separate network so is totally isolated from teh main domain!!

Can anyone help? thanks!!

Are you getting this on a machine that was clean installed (aka no upgrade)

Yes!!!

This is directly on a fresh and clean install of Server 2008R2 and Exchange 2010 combination.

All prerequisits have been met so I have no idea what is causing this??

Also a strange thing that I noticed was the Exchange Server Objects' version number is ADSIEdit which didn't claim to be an Exchange 2010 organisation.

What I mean is this:

"
Sets the objectVersion property in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container under DC=<root domain>. This objectVersion property contains the version of domain preparation. The version for Exchange 2010 is 12640.
"

I read about it and what came up was the fact that it was a bug in Exchange 2010 which was fixed in RTM or SP2... we are using RTM version.

The value was more like 12639 or something with a 9 at the end... not very helpful I know!! But that was weird!

:?

What happens if you run the /prepareAD again? (longshot...)

Thanks for the response!

Nothing happens as I've tried several times?? :-(

What I can say is that I've approached the migration from a different angle now using Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 -> (bounce system) Server 2003 and Exchange 2003

->-> Server 2008R2 and Exchange 2010

Am doing this right now and seems to be working so far??? Just finishing up with the AD migration part then should be ok until next migration where I am certain it will burst....

Well giving in depth detailed advise is undoable over a forum... If it works: congrats! Keep in mind your next migration might be a long project and prepare for it.
