DonJ -> Entourage can't connect to exchange 2007 (10.Aug.2010 5:06:35 PM)

Here is my setup: mydomain.local
2 servers with CAS+HTS on each - doing load balancing. Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008R2
Load Balancing IP: 1.1.1.4
Server1: 1.1.1.2
Server2: 1.1.1.3

2 Servers on Single Copy Cluster on SAN.
Server3: 1.1.1.5
Server4: 1.1.1.6
Clustered Mailbox Server: 1.1.1.7 (cms.mydomain.local) <Do i have include this address to my certificate?)

MX record on 1.1.1.4 (exchange.myexternaldomain.com)
OWA: https://exchange.myexternaldomain.com/owa (Using Digicert for our Subj Alternative Name)

What is working? OWA and Internal Outlook 2007 exchange/IMAP/POP are working.
What is not working? Internal client using Entourage, External client including OL2007.

Any help is much appreciated.

Considering this:

I would think there is a problem with the webservices... Both entourage and Outlook use these. DO you have issues with downloading the OAB or displaying free/busy information? Are you using a public folder?

Please post the output of this command:
test-outlookwebservices | fl

DonJ -> RE: Entourage can't connect to exchange 2007 (11.Aug.2010 3:37:32 PM)

Thanks Marc for your help. By the way OL2007 (external) is working. IMAP/POP Internal are also working. How do I test OAB? free/busy info seems to be working from OWA and Outlook 2007. Yes I am using Public Folder as it is required by OL2003 and older and Entourage.

This is the output:

PS] C:\Windows\system32>test-outlookwebservices | fl

Also, went to https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ to test out my connection. They all passed but with warnings. For Webservices there has a warning msg: ExRCA is testing the SSL certificate to make sure it's valid. Certificate trust is being validated.

Well,

Good to hear the OLK is working from external. But we'll need to get those webservices fixed!

This error indicates there is a problem resolving that name. Can you check that out?

DonJ -> RE: Entourage can't connect to exchange 2007 (12.Aug.2010 7:15:23 PM)

Do you think I need to include exchnlb.mydomain.local in my certificate? Right now my certificate from Digicert only include:
mydomain
mydomain.local
mydomainexternal.com
exchange.mydomainexternal.com
autodiscover.mydomainexternal.com

exchnlb (name of the cluster) has a 2 node cluster for my CAS+HTS server roles.
Also, my mailbox server role in Single Copy Cluster is cms.mydomain.local <- is this required to be included in the certs as well?

Thanks again for all your help.

Marc.dekeyser -> RE: Entourage can't connect to exchange 2007 (13.Aug.2010 2:55:20 AM)

Well you'll have to include every name that will be used to access the exchange so the NLB would need to be on there aswell as the CAS server name

DonJ -> RE: Entourage can't connect to exchange 2007 (23.Aug.2010 3:11:28 PM)

This is finally fixed. My Entourage users can now connect to my exchange server.
The fix? You just need to add ASP.NET in your mailbox server role which was not installed in my case.

OAB still fails to Download though when I go to Outlook > Send/Receive > Download Address Book.

I have a Sync Issues in Sync Issues Folder
9:38:10 Synchronizer Version 12.0.6529
9:38:10 Synchronizing Mailbox 'My Name'
9:38:10 Done
9:40:24 Microsoft Exchange offline address book

Thanks Marc for all your help.

Something else, i just read about Entourage and Exchange 2010

Exchange 2010 Microsoft discontinues WebDAV. And, yes, this means that users of Entourage 2008 and older versions will only be able to connect to Exchange 2010 via POP or IMAP.

The upcoming Entourage client will use Exchange Web Services (EWS) for connecting to Exchange. As a result, this version also will support many more features than did the previous, WebDAV-based versions.

Now tasks, notes and categories can sync withExchange, and the new Entourage version will have full support for AutoDiscover (Entourage 2008 SP1 had only limited support for AutoDiscover).

eb Services Edition uses Exchange Web Services as the primary protocol to communicate with Exchange Server. In addition to several calendaring improvements, this new version of Entourage synchronizes notes, tasks, and categories with Exchange Server. This update also enables logging that can be used for diagnostic purposes

There might be different problems regarding this like internet connection or any thing else. Sometimes Entourage data can be lost due to such causes. It needs to repair your entourage. In your condition you can also perform entourage repair. It can resolve your error and make your entourage as earlier.

Entourage uses EWS to connect to Exchange, have you checked EWS directory?
